Packing List

Review this list to get a better understanding of what you need to bring with you on this adventure.

Weather
Weather in the Yukon Territory can be quite unpredictable. It is not uncommon to have both

hot sunny weather and cool grey days all on the same trip. Although the Yukon is a semi-
arid climate, we encourage you to bring rain gear just in case. Being prepared for all types

of weather will ensure that your trip is as safe and enjoyable as possible. Lower elevation
areas (the areas in which all canoe trips offered by Up North are located) have temperate
climates through the summer months of June, July and August. The average daytime
temperature for the Whitehorse region in July is 20o C, and average lows hover between 6o
and 8o C. Although rare, nights can go below 0o C, so a warm hat and gloves can be a nice
thing to have in your pack for the evenings. The most up to date weather can be found here.

Clothing and Equipment
The equipment and clothing outlined below should help you in preparing for your Yukon
adventure. Keep in mind that these are only suggestions, and there is no substitute for high
quality gear. You don’t want to find out your equipment won’t hold up to the rigors of the
wilderness two days into the trip when it cannot be replaced. Cotton clothing is not
recommended.
